We are looking for a Database Engineer to support and manage enterprise databases across both on premises and cloud environments.
You will:
  • Work with different database technologies (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Cloud databases)
  • Help keep systems running smoothly
  • Solve incidents and improve reliability
  • Take part in a 24/7 on-call rotation

What you'll be doing

Database Support
  • Support and maintain at least one of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle databases, and be familiar with the others
  • Handle upgrades, changes, and improvements
  • Provide L2 support for database issues
  • Monitor performance and system health
  • Investigate and solve root causes of problems
SQL Server & PostgreSQL
  • Install, configure, and tune SQL Server databases
  • Support high availability setups (e.g. AlwaysOn)
  • Manage PostgreSQL (backup, monitoring, performance)
Oracle
  • Administer Oracle databases in enterprise environments
  • Support:
    • Data Guard
    • RMAN
    • Golden Gate
    • Exadata, ExaCC, Oracle@Google
  • Performance tuning, backup, and recovery


What you'll need to succeed

Required Skills
  • Experience as a Database Administrator / Engineer 
  • Strong knowledge of at least one database (Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL) 
  • Basic knowledge of other database technologies 
  • Experience with: 
    • High availability & disaster recovery
    • Performance Tuning
    • Backup
    • Patching
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred / Nice to Have
  • Experience with Oracle GoldenGate 
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud databases, Oracle@Google 
  • Automation and scripting
  • Security best practices knowledge
  • Relevant certifications (Oracle, Microsoft, PostgreSQL, Cloud)
